A distinctive musical palette

Musical identity is key: unusual combinations of harmony, texture, rhythm and orchestration, creating palettes that can shift between atmosphere, tension and colour. While sound and production are essential, the music itself should be the heart of the score: a carefully crafted musical language that gives each project its own character.

Music that creates worlds

Music can create an entire world through its harmonic and orchestral language. In John Williams’ Star Wars scores the orchestration is unmistakably cinematic, but it is the very uncommon harmony that gives places like Tatooine their timeless atmosphere.
Music can also bend the rules when it serves the story: the expressive dissonances of E.T. with unexpected harmonic turns somehow sound absolutely right.

From jazz to film

My musical language grew from a background in jazz, studied in Italy, with a strong foundation in harmony, improvisation and arranging. I later expanded this into a deeper study of orchestration and classical composition, culminating in an MA in Music Composition for Media in the UK. This combination allows me to approach a score both as a composer and as an orchestrator, with harmony at the centre of the musical process.
